  • Mmm...Shuttle Driving.

So - I will post about some sweet early Saint stories next post. But I had a really interesting day yesterday.
Every once in awhile i shuttle drive for IHOP on the weekends when the have their teaching services. I transport people in 15 passenger shuttles (pretty big vehicles...they're pretty sweet to drive) from the IHOP prayer room, to the Forerunner School of Ministry building where they hold their weekly encounter God services. So, anyways, i met and talked to a variety of people from different back grounds - and all of them had awesome testimonies, and i was so encouraged at how God was working in each of their lives. I will give a short biography of each.

Michael - Michael is from california, originally from near the detroit area. I would have to say he was in his mid 60's, a farmer at heart who worked alot of land in michigan where his uncles owned a dairy farm. He came here to pray for Israel. God recently put it on his heart to pray for Israel and he has been doing so for the last 77 days consistently. He was really inquisitive about the House of Prayer mission base, and had a very meek and gentle spirit about him. He was so cool. I love grandfather figures.

Soonyee - Soonyee is from Seattle, Wa. She is amazing. This is her third time here. She has had lung cancer which has spread to breast cancer. Her testimony is crazy. She told me this:

"I asked the Lord at first "Why do you not heal me? Don't you care about me Lord?" And His response was "I'm in control, I can use you when you're healthy, can I not use you when you have cancer to reach a different people group with your testimony." When he said that i was silenced. To me, 30 yrs healthy without cancer is much worse that 2 years with cancer and with the Lord. Many people in the world see cancer as a curse. But is it? People see wealth, fame, power, and riches as a blessing...but really...it's a curse because it causes people not to pursue God. I thank the Lord for my cancer because He is using me and my testimony to reach people and causing me to trust and pursue him. I want him to heal me, but my life is in His hands. The only thing is that i don't want to die of cancer - i want to die as a martyr for my faith...and that's what I'm asking the Lord for..."

Soonyee has two sons Daniel and David who she loves, and her husband is a retired pastor. She continues to minister teaching about the End-times to a group of Koreans in Seattle. Her testimony ROCKED me. What a woman of strength. This world has no power over her. She's living for the resurrection and eternity.

Heather - This must be one of my favorites. Heather is about late 40's to 50's who has just moved her a year ago. She is evangelizing in the near community, handing out free einstein bagles from door to door and sharing the love of God with the evangelism community here. People are getting radically saved through this! So awesome. And she goes on to tell me that she's getting into hip hop evangelism. And I'm thinking....whoa. So Heather tells me "I have a rap, do you want to hear it?" And I'm like "yeah bring it!" And keep in mind here, this is like my mom or Aunt Hannah asking me if I want to hear their rap song...and I'm not knocking you guys, it's just this....this does not fit !!! OH my. So she goes on to rap a song about Matthew 22...pretty much verbatim to me for 5 + minutes. Oh my. And here's the thing....it was actually good. She had some really good rhymes. And during this whole time she was getting me to participate in the group shout in the middle of the rap which was "Got to get ready!" which was my part...as she was rapping around it. This whole time i was driving the shuttle to the Justice Prayer Room. As she was leaving the shuttle when i dropped her of, she finished and told me with a smile "that's probably the oldest whitest rap you've ever heard!" And i responded "you actually surprised me! That was really good!" Man..so precious.

God is so cool with the myriad of people He's made. What an artist

    Good Book....

This book is really sweet. I will give a few stories about it later....

This guy really understands Church history really well. It's really interesting to see how our collective thinking about Christianity is a product of the Fathers of our faith. Some of these thought patterns are actually not healthy (espeically Gnosticism, which is really prevalent in alot of our thinking about God).

Some of the Saints of old were truely Legit believers. And I'm not nulifying that there aren't sincere believers today...but you listen to some of the stories of the Celtic saints, the Desert Fathers - It's crazy. Very inspiring. My next post I will give you some really crazy stories of some of them. Even Nature Mystics - who actually had the ability to tame wild animals by speaking the counsel of God to them (St. Francis of Assisi). Crazy! God said that we have dominion over the earth...and some of these guys did it.

Anyways. I'm stoked. These guys were hard core. And I think that's sweet. Ok OK. I shall update later!

  • Soon to be in transition....

So...I think someone asked what I'm doing after the internship. I thought I would let you all know

I'm going to be working as an engineer for Specialty Silicone Fabricators back at home in Elk Rapids, Michigan. It's a really small company, that's pretty sweet. They fabricated.....Silicone things. For surgical applications. Mostly Silicone tubing and also silicone dipped blades for cauterization. My job title is Project Engineering. Alot of it will be quality engineering oriented...but more specialized. So anyways. That's where I will be headed for the next season of my life - so family - i will probably be seeing you more than i have in the last 3-4 yrs!

Anyways. It will be my first thanksgiving away from home. . So enjoy! I am helping coordinate Thanksgiving dinner for 70 people. It's a riot. I think we're cooking 5 turkeys. So it should be interesting.

    I shall update later!
